According to reports by Euronews, two commercial tankers were reportedly targeted in separate incidents while transiting the Strait of Hormuz early 1st August 2026.

A vessel operating northeast of Limah, Oman, reported being hit by an unidentified object, causing damage to the engine room. No casualties were reported. Later, a second tanker reported an explosion and a large splash in the water nearby while transiting northeast of Khasab, Oman. The vessel was not reported damaged.

The incidents highlight the continued security risks facing commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
